Rumi again...
What draws friends together
does not conform to Laws of Nature.
Form doesn't know about spiritual closeness.
If a grain of barley approaches a grain of wheat,
an ant must be carrying it. A black ant on black felt.
You can't see it, but if grains go toward each other,
it's there.
I am planning work trip to Nashville soon...I need to visit the south! Baking Fairy on the go! Just before Lizard left, we stayed in a fancy smoochy hotel in San Jose, went to shopping spent all our money on incredible dresses, went to dinner, made friends with the owner and gladly accepted 30% discount on our bill. The most fun part at the end, poor girl's facial clay. Trial size celebrity skincare...

The joy of friends
Hi Ozlem,
I came to your blog through a series of weird serendipity circumstances. I was on Sarma Melgainlis's blog and saw your comment posted in July, 2007 to her blog titled "Sex, Pain, Madness and One Lucky Duck". I relate to both you and Sarma and feel that you are both farther down the road that I am heading down. I also lived in the Bay Area (came from Russia when I was 12, grew up in Burlingame, went to college at Berkeley and then worked for Citigroup in San Francisco) and two years ago moved to Long Beach. I am transitioning out of the corporate world and into yoga, raw food and wellness in general. I have a strange love affair with Costa Rica although I've never been there. I spent many months in Baja, Mexico where I studied and taught yoga and people there kept telling me about Costa Rica. And my surfer boyfriend has been there many times and we are planning on going together soon.
I am not sure why I am writing you in all this detail, but I guess I am just in a place of wanting to see a light at the end of the tunnel, to know that someone is living their dream, doing what they love in a beautiful place. You dissipate such joy writing about your cafe and your life! I have this strong urge to use my savings and just buy a ticket to Costa Rica and stay there for a few months. And meet people like you! Maybe I will....
Thanks for the blog and shoot me a note if you ever have time/desire!
Warmly,
~lana
